Why Chamara Silva should be given another Chance..

Chamara Silva is one of those players the Sri Lankan cricket fans love to hate. He has been a thorn in the Sri Lankan team for many years after finally the selectors decided to drop him. Yet, he has come with a bang scoring 163 runs against the visiting England team in the ongoing practice match. Here are five reasons why the selectors should consider taking him back to the team.

Reason 1
The guy played really well against the English bowlers which was at full strength except for James Anderson and Monty Panesar. Having someone who is familiar with the English bowling attach recently would be a great advantage for the Sri Lankan team

Reason 2
Angelo Mathews is still injured so rushing him back into the test side would be a huge risk.  Why not add Silva to the middle order and strengthen our batting ? the guy  has experience too.

Reason 3
The guy is not a dasher like Sanath but us also not idler like Para. So he will be someone the test match cricket lovers would love to watch since he is good in both attack and defense.

Reason 4
Batting is one of our weaker points and though we are playing in home conditions we still lack that killer touch in batting out our opponents like in the past. Silva might be able to help us, just to do that.

Reason 5
The selectors have given so many chances to the other Chamara (Kapugedera) no matter how much he was out of form. Why not give this Chamara a chance too ? He might prove everyone wrong.

Let us hope Silva will be give a chance to show off his skills he displayed in the practice game. If he does show them , then it would be great for him and both Sri Lanka and the countries quest to win the test series against the Englishmen.

Cheers!!

  1. Yeah Chamara needs another chance after that awesome innings against the English. Maybe he's finally coming out of his bad patch.

He has also put a few good performance in domestic cricket this year, so might be a good time for him to play test cricket as well!!
