Lankan Lions tame the Englishmen in Grand Style..

The Sri Lankan Lions beat the Englishmen today at the Galle International Cricket Stadium by 75 runs after a superlative all round performance. It was a magical win with all the team members giving their bit at vital stages and in the end , the team as predicted earlier was able to screw the Englishmen in front of their own barmy army who out numbered the Sri Lankan fans at the ground.

The star performers for the Lankan Lions today was their spin bowlers and specially Rangana Herath who completed a match haul of 12 wickets for 117 runs. Suraj Randiv also took 4 wickets and their performance was capped by some wonderful fielding , specially by Dilshan who took two outstanding catches to dismiss Samit Patel and the danger man Jonathan Trott.

We should also not forget the performances of the other team member during the past few days who contributed in their own way to give the bowlers a good target to bowl at. Prasanna Jayawardena's 61 was truly awesome and the fast bowlers Welagedera and Lakmal showed their metal with the bat.  The last two partnerships in the 2nd innings added 80 odd runs and that made the difference in the end.

Mahela was pure magic with his 180 in the first innings and 30's scored by Samaraweera and Chandimal was also invaluable. The whole team performed like a band of brothers and in the end it helped the Lankan Lions to tame the No. 1 test ranked team in the world  and give them their 4th test defeat in a row.

This is also the first time Sri Lanka won a test match in Sri Lanka after Murali's retirement. Murali should be the happiest man in the country now, he should be thinking that  "at last the team is doing well without me. I don't need to think of making a comeback again now. "

Overall it was a superb performance by the team and hopefully we can win the next test match (which starts next week)  too and whitewash the Englishmen. I am pretty sure we can do it. It would be the perfect tonic to end the series and the New Year present for all Sri Lankan Cricket fans.

Congrats to our Sri Lankan Lions. You just made us so damn Happy and Proud..

Cheers!!
